5 Holiday Shred Tips to Avoid Belly Fat
By Ryan Spiteri
The Holidays are a great time of the year to enjoy family and friends and set ambitious goals for the upcoming year.
Unfortunately – the holidays are not very kind to most people’s waist-line!
The reality of the Holidays is that most people pack on a considerable amount of belly fat in the month of December.
This sets the tone for “crisis mode” on January 1st when everyone sets a new year’s resolution to lose weight and get six pack abs.
Save yourself the pain of feeling overwhelmed on January 1st by implementing these 5 holiday shred tips.
Now you can enjoy the Holidays without packing on a bunch of stubborn belly fat!
5 Holiday Shred Tips to Avoid Belly Fat
- PVW = 6
This is one of my favorite hacks of all time to prevent over-eating.
The next time you are about to indulge in a Holiday feast try this simple hack that will save you from scarfing down too many calories at 1 sitting.
Before you eat anything else – start with Protein, Veggies, then a big glass of Water!
The combination of lean protein, veggies, and a big glass of water after will make you extremely full and you won’t have room to eat that giant piece of Peppermint bark cheesecake!
Even if you do decide to indulge in desserts you won’t have the appetite to eat a huge serving, so you will save yourself from consuming a lot of calories.
Try this before every meal and you will be off to a great start.
- Sparkling Water with Lemon Between Meals
Sparkling water with lemon is a great way to hydrate between meals because it keeps you full.
Lemon is very alkaline for your body and will help to reduce inflammation – and makes for a delicious drink with the sparkling water.
If you find that you are getting really hungry between meals – instead of scarfing down some holiday cookies, try drinking 20 ounces of sparkling water with fresh squeezed lemon.
It keeps you full, and is actually quite refreshing!
- Matcha Green Tea
If you know you are going to be eating more calories than usual, try to do something really healthy for your metabolism – like drinking a cup of the world’s strongest green tea!
The antioxidant known as EGCG in matcha green tea helps to boost your metabolism and is a powerful antioxidant that will help defend you against the common cold.
What’s the difference between this and regular green tea? Matcha green tea has nearly 20 times the EGCG – meaning it gives you more energy, and more fat loss than regular green tea.
Drink 1-2 cups of Matcha green tea per day for a healthy metabolism around the holidays!
- Metabolism Super Spices
There are a few common spices that are awesome for metabolism health, and I recommend trying to incorporate them into your holiday meals.
If you enjoy spicy food try sprinkling some Cayenne pepper on your steak, pork, chicken, fish, or even veggies.
Want a delicious seasoning recipe or marinade?
One of my favorite metabolism boosting combos is Cayenne Pepper, Garlic powder, black pepper, turmeric, and Basil.
Try this delicious combo on fish with some fresh squeezed lemon juice!
If you are a coffee drinker or happen to be enjoying some sweet potatoes around the holidays, try putting some organic cinnamon on them.
Cinnamon is great for weight loss because it helps to lower your insulin levels and is a nice energy booster.
I try to sprinkle some cinnamon in my coffee for the extra metabolism boost.
- Reward Yourself
The best time of the day to have a Holiday cheat meal is post workout!
Your muscles will be starving for the extra glycogen, and the combination of carbs and amino acids is crucial for muscle growth.
If you know you want to have an epic Holiday cheat meal try to time it post workout.
Even better – try going for a leg day workout or a giant “push-pull” workout to make some serious gains!
The larger muscle groups you train the more calories you can burn – and the less the cheat meal will impact your belly fat.
These are the exact 5 Holiday Shred tips I will be implementing so I can enjoy time with family and friends and eat whatever I want.
I hope you all enjoy the holidays!
