Are you ready to learn the 11 foods that possess the most magical shredding super powers? Think of these foods like superheroes to your fat loss and shredding diet.
Not only will they help you burn fat, but they will allow you to keep and sometimes even BUILD lean muscle mass due to their incredible anabolic properties!
Let’s dive into the 11 Foods that I certainly rate an A+ for fat loss due to their awesome nutrient density and anabolic properties.
Eat These 11 foods, Get Shredded to the Bone
1. Brazil Nuts
Brazil nuts are absolutely loaded with selenium, which helps to boost Testosterone, a crucial fat loss and shredding hormone!
Research indicates that the higher your Testosterone levels are when dieting the less likely you are to lose lean mass and strength.
This is crucial to remember as any loss of lean muscle mass will result in a decreased metabolism as well!
Selenium also helps to stimulate the glutathione, also directly linked to increased T production.
Eat a handful of brazil nuts at night to get shredded!
2. Raw Cacao
This isn’t your grandfathers Hershey’s chocolate bar – but rather the antioxidant and superfood packed Raw Cacao!
Raw Cacao is not processed or heated – it's pure and packed with shredding greatness!
They are one of the highest antioxidant foods in the world and packed in minerals like magnesium, zinc manganese and copper!
It’s also got the perfect fat ratio for optimal T production, making it a great “muscle preserving” food on a shredding diet.
I recommend getting Raw Cacao nibs and sprinkling 2 tbsp.’s in your morning oats, or on top of yoghurt!
3. Organic Eggs
Did you know that cholesterol is the precursor to testosterone production? Eggs are high in cholesterol but this is a good thing, and are also really high in protein!
Many people over-react to the egg yolks being high in cholesterol, but it has been scientifically proven that egg consumption on a daily basis does not negatively influence your cardiovascular health! STUDY
Organic Eggs are very nutritious and even contain omega 3 fatty acids. The combination of the nutrients, T boosting ingredients, Protein, and ZERO CARBS makes eggs the perfect breakfast or snack on any shredding diet.
4. Grass Fed Beef
Getting really lean grass fed beef is an incredible shredding super food. I recommend getting the 95% grass fed beef for a shredding diet.
In the United States Whole Foods and Trader Joes typically carries the 95% grass fed beef, and another alternative is getting Ground Buffalo.
Grass Fed Beef is the holy grail of “red meat” for a shredding diet as its lean, and loaded with omega 3 fatty acids, zinc, iron, protein and even creatine!
Try making some delicious beef patties out of it, or simply ground it up in some of the cooking oil I recommend on food #5!
5. Coconut Oil
Out of all the “health oils” nothing beats extra virgin coconut oil for a shredding diet.
The reason is very simple, coconut oil is an MCT fat, which is metabolised by your body much differently than say olive oil, canola oil, or any other type of oil.
When you ingest coconut oil your body recognises it as an energy source, and is much less likely to store it as body fat. It is also great for some mid-day energy!
Coconut oil has been written up extensively the last few years and is certainly more hope than hype!
For a proper shredding diet, I recommend using coconut oil as your cooking oil of choice, and you can also put in liquid coconut oil to your smoothies for an extra metabolism boost!
I recommend 1-2 tbsp. per day on the shredding diet!
6. Dried Goji Berries
Dried Goji berries are one of the healthiest foods in the world and are top 10 in the world in antioxidants!
They make for a perfect snack on the shredding diet as they are loaded with over 20 vitamins and minerals, high in fiber, and low in total calories.
If you are craving something sweet these will do a great job of satisfying that sugar craving while packing your body full of shredding greatness.
One of my favorite shredding snacks of all time Is combining dried goji berries with the next shredding food on the list!
7. Raw Almonds
Did you know that magnesium deficiency is 1 of the most common health deficiencies in the world? This causes a ton of side effects which directly link to your energy levels and hormone production.
The worst thing that can happen on a shredding diet is low energy levels and low testosterone. This sets up a recipe for disaster when your workout intensity takes a dive and you no longer have the energy to get things done.
My favorite magnesium boosting snack of all time that is perfect for a shredding diet is combining a handful of dried goji berries with a handful of raw almonds.
Both foods are loaded with magnesium, fiber, protein, and over 20 vitamins and minerals combined.
This is what I call Shredding Trail Mix!
8. Broccoli
These little baby trees are a perfect shredding side dish with any meal as they are an antioxidant and vitamin power-house and will keep you full!
Broccoli gets the nod as the top Shredding Super food for the simple reason that it also has estrogen lowering properties – perfect for any fat loss diet!
Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables help your body eliminate bad estrogens by containing indoles.
Indoles also help to improve your livers ability to rid your body of estrogen!
A Broccoli tree per day keeps the Body Fat away!
Try some pan fried organic broccoli using 1 tsp of coconut oil and season with garlic and black pepper for the ultimate shredding side dish!
9. Wild Caught Salmon
Wild caught salmon is one of the best protein sources in the world on a shredding diet as its loaded with not only protein but omega 3 fatty acids!
Most people don’t get in enough omega 3 fatty acids, and wild caught salmon are 1 of the best sources of omega 3’s in the world.
One of my favorite shredding dinner combos is wild caught salmon with some fresh squeezed lemon on top with a side of pan-fried broccoli in coconut oil.
Aim to consume wild caught salmon 2-3 times per week on your shredding diet.
10. Sardines
Don’t knock them till you try it!
I even saw on a recent Tai Lopez YouTube video that his private chef and health consultant told him that Sardines were the healthiest source of protein in the world!
I don’t disagree, as Sardines are LOADED with omega 3 fatty acids and actually contain less total fat and less total calories than wild caught salmon!
Try them fried in coconut oil with some black pepper, garlic, and curry powder and all of that fishy taste and smell will go away.
These little protein packed suckers are pretty tasty but get a bad reputation.
I encourage you to try sardines a few times per week on your shredding diet to speed up results. When it comes down to it they are actually a lot more nutritious than most lean protein choices like chicken and turkey!
11. Organic Apples
Any time you eat the skin of something, I recommend buying organic. Apples find their way on this list because they are really high in fiber, nutrition and on the Satiety index.
The satiety index rates foods based on how “full” they make you feel – and apples are my favorite fruit on a shredding diet for this very reason.
Other fruits like bananas, grapes, and pineapple have more calories and won’t make you as full.
Organic apples are a great post workout carb to stabilise blood sugar levels on a shredding diet, and you can top them with some peanut butter or almond butter for a healthy snack!
These are the top 11 foods on a shredding diet. Sure there are many others, but consuming these foods more regularly will speed up your shredding progress and allow you to maintain more muscle mass and strength on your cut.
